What Is the Purpose of Printed Adhesive Tape?
Printed packaging tapes are used to seal various types of product packaging. They protect the goods and also serve as a seal that immediately reveals any opening or unauthorized access to the carton.
A custom-printed adhesive tape offers even more. It can also be used to convey instructions, information, and notices to the recipient. By printing company logos, contact details, important warning messages, or other text, recipients can be informed even before opening the package.
The printable materials are just as diverse as those used for standard tapes. We print on all commonly available market materials, each with its own specific characteristics. We are happy to provide personalized advice.
In the cost-effective standard segment, polypropylene tapes (BOPP) with acrylic adhesive are the most commonly used adhesive tapes. They are primarily used for light to medium-weight shipments. When combined with hot melt or solvent/natural rubber adhesives, stronger holding and bonding strength is achieved. These are especially suitable for industrial applications and heavy cartons. For use in cold storage environments, special freezer tapes have been developed to withstand extremely low temperatures.
When packaging very heavy shipments, adhesive tapes made of PVC film with natural rubber adhesive (solvent-based) are recommended. These tapes are highly tear-resistant and offer very strong adhesive strength.
Paper adhesive tapes are also becoming increasingly popular under current environmental considerations. Using paper tapes can enhance an eco-friendly image. The use of silicone-free black dyes significantly strengthens the environmental aspect.
We also offer the appropriate accessories for this purpose. If you need advice, please feel free to use our hotline.
The sandwich printing process is our standard printing method. In this process, the print is applied between the carrier material and the adhesive, hence the name sandwich or interlayer printing. The advantage of this technique is that the inks are encapsulated between the tape and the adhesive, preventing any contact with the product or the user. Smaller order quantities are produced using the flexographic printing process. In this method, flexible printing plates mounted on a printing cylinder are used. Unlike sandwich printing, the print is applied to the surface of the tape. A major advantage of surface printing is the flexibility in order quantities (starting from 36 rolls) as well as a short delivery time.
It is recommended to use or at least store the printed adhesive tape at temperatures between 18-21 °C, as this improves the quality and adhesive strength. If you store your tape at temperatures around 5 – 15 °C or use it at even lower temperatures, please ensure it is stored at 18 – 21 °C for at least 24 hours before use. The colder the adhesive, the lower the initial tack! Storage temperatures at or below freezing must be strictly avoided, as they have a very negative impact on the adhesives.
