In light of the full implementation of the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Manupackaging Group transparently outlines its governance structure, operational responsibilities, and allocation of roles between the parent company and its EU-based operating subsidiaries.
1. The Role of M Stretch S.p.A. (Headquarters & Brand Owner)
M Stretch S.p.A., headquartered in Italy, serves as the parent company and exclusive owner of the brand portfolio and corporate identity of Manupackaging Group.
For the purposes of EU sector regulations, and specifically the PPWR:
• Governance & Strategic Standards: M Stretch S.p.A. defines the Group’s overarching guidelines regarding sustainability, eco-design, recyclability, and regulatory compliance.
• Brand Ownership: M Stretch licenses the Group’s trademarks to operating subsidiaries. Displaying the Manupackaging trademark on packaging products does not automatically classify M Stretch S.p.A. as the legal ‘manufacturer’ or entity responsible for placing individual finished products on the market in different Member States, a role defined strictly according to European legislative criteria.
2. The Role of EU Operating Companies (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic)
The Group’s operating subsidiaries located within the European Union (Manuli Ekobal (PL), Manupackaging International ( H ), Manupackaging Czech Republic (CZ):
• Act, for the purposes of the PPWR and respective national implementing legislation, as ‘Manufacturers’ and/or ‘Importers/Distributors’ for packaging products produced or distributed in their local markets.
• Bear direct operational and administrative responsibility for PPWR compliance regarding the products they place on the market, including:
– Technical compliance, recyclability, and sustainability documentation;
– Environmental labeling in accordance with EU and national requirements;
– Participation in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes in their respective operating countries.
3. Non-EU Subsidiaries
Group entities operating outside the European Union comply with their respective local environmental and regulatory frameworks and fall outside the direct scope of the EU PPWR.
